The State of Economic Development in Coeymans and Albany County Event Recap:

The Discover RCS program, launched by the RCS Community Business Association (RCS CBA) and Capital Region Independent Media, aims to drive local business growth and community investment in Ravena, Coeymans, and Selkirk.

A Vision for Growth: Launched in March 2024, Discover RCS began with a printed map highlighting local businesses and expanded to include a marketing campaign, a website, and social media initiatives. The goal is to promote local shopping, dining, and investment, attracting both residents and visitors.

Community Engagement and Impact: Since March, the program’s Facebook page garnered 11,200 visitors, with an additional 3,600 on Instagram — all through unpaid, organic efforts run by Jordon Egelston, RCS CBA Board Member and Social Media Manager. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to list events on the Discover RCS website for free.

Learning from Success Stories: Inspired by Catskill's and other local communities' successful marketing transformation; Discover RCS strives to create a vibrant Main Street in the RCS community. Printed maps and website directories help guide consumers to local businesses, with thousands of copies distributed throughout the region.

Looking Ahead, Phase 2: The next phase of the program focuses on enhancing social media content, incorporating videos and blog posts, and potentially launching a newsletter. This initiative is being led by dedicated RCS CBA Board Members, all of whom are volunteers. To ensure its growth and success, they are actively seeking funding and additional support.
